What’s New with Microsoft Teams in the Year 2024?

Munich, Bavaria Germany - December 11 2022: Microsoft Deutschland (Germany) GmbH corporation headquarters building with Windows logo ultra HD.

It’s a New year! This comes with innovations of new strategies and methods to reach specific goals, empowering businesses to adapt, thrive, and stay ahead in an ever-evolving landscape of possibilities.

Infiniwiz would like to share with you all some information about the new improvements within Microsoft Teams and what users should expect to see in 2024. One improvement that Microsoft has implemented is a variety of features and updates, making the Teams software seamless for users.

Let’s dive into some of the new 2024 changes for Teams!

Collaboration

Microsoft Teams has introduced support for Loop components within the Teams channel. Loop components assist in composing content, such as a table, checklist, task list, etc. When you send a loop component via chat, participants can also edit content together in real-time.(Marquette).

This support will enhance user collaboration and communication because users can “create, share, and edit components, including progress trackers, lists, and tables. (Petri). This new update will allow easy collaboration with colleagues to copy and paste Loop components across chats, channels, Outlook emails, and other supported Microsoft 365 applications.

New Teams App for VDI customers

Microsoft also stated that the Teams app will now be available for VDI users. This means users will have more optimized and reliable collaboration in virtualized settings. Users can now expect a smoother and more efficient Teams experience in their virtual desktop setups, with potential enhancements in performance, reduced memory consumption, reduced latency, and improved integration with various VDI solutions.

New Meeting Templates

In 2023, Microsoft will be introducing new meeting templates for webinars. This will allow users who use Outlook to set up their webinars where the event will be visible in Microsoft Teams and other Outlook apps. This integration will save users from scheduling the webinar on both schedules and simultaneously adding it to both platforms.

“Teams-Certified devices” Rollout

New Microsoft Devices will also be rolled out that will include the following:

  • Logitech Sight video conferencing camera
  • Logi Dock Flex
  • Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus Monitor
  • HP 960 4k Streaming Webcam
  • Anker PowerConf S3 Speakerphone

In addition, Microsoft Teams will update its Teams mobile service, including “new calling shortcuts which will help users perform repetitive tasks quicker” (Petri). Additionally, if you find yourself calling friends by mistake, Microsoft has created a feature that sends a confirmation alert to a user, which is said to prevent accidental calls.

Enhanced Search Engine

With a new “find in channel” search bar, users can utilize an in-depth “in-channel” and “in-chat” search experience where users can search within a specific chat or channel, and all results will be seen on the right side of the screen where you will be able to look at the search results as well as the channel or chat interface, without seizing your workflow.

In conclusion, Microsoft Teams in 2024 brings several exciting updates and features to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and user experience. In 2024, the company promises to deliver a more integrated, user-friendly, and efficient collaboration platform, catering to the evolving needs of businesses and individuals in an ever-changing digital landscape.

We will keep you all updated on the latest developments from Microsoft.
